Muppet
Played a live poker tourney last night. It was a big 200 player opening night freeroll for some poker club that I’ve joined, and the field contained Teddy Sherringham and a few other famous people. I was moved to a table with Grub Smith on (who you might have heard of), by which time I’d had a few jars. Two of the blokes went all in and I decided to chip in with my tuppence worth.
LUNT (out loud to the table): Look – he’s still got chances. He’s got an open ender!!*
A few seconds passed......
SMITH (staring at the cards, squinting with a puzzled look on his face): And HOW do you make it that he has got an open ender?
A few more seconds passed......
LUNT: Oh yeah. Whoops.
He must have thought that I had a very big brain.
Smith - thinks Lunt's a goon
* open ended straight draw, non poker fans

I remember Grub - wasn't he editor for FHM or Loaded? I remember reading those jerkov mags in my (ahem) adolesence>
I seem to remember him having to indulge in a series of perverted adult-themed events in the name of journalism.
I suspect getting one over on Lunt in a poker tourny might be the new top item on his CV.
Most importantly, how did you fare in the tourney itself?
I can only assume it was better than your effort at the big event over Christmas/New Year*
(*£20 buy-in, all in 2nd hand - lost. Rebuy £20, all in 5th hand - lost. Then two more rebuys and all-ins (lost) before an hour into the night. Yeesh.)
I recall from my youth, an article from this Grub bloke about how he 'had' to employ the services of a top-class hooker in the name of 'research'.
I sincerely hope he's got a virulent dose of syphilis, the mockney gobshite.
FFS.
Just playing a sit and go online.
I get AK, go all in. Bloke calls with AJ. He gets jack on the river.
Very next hand. I get AA. All in, as you'd expect. Same guy calls - I presume he thought I was tilting - with J6. Gets J and 6 on the flop. Bye bye millhouse.

Saw this hand the other day - this bird hits a full house on the flop. Strings the other guy along beautifully, making bets all over and getting called, only for him to hit one of his TWO outs on the river, to make a bigger full house. A 5% shot.
What a scumbag. Oh no, wait - that was YOU, wasn't it?
Swings and roundabouts.
I hit runner, runner TWICE in one five player tourney while all in and miles behind recently. What a scumbag, eh?
Something for the poker players (boring for everyone else). I recently had JJ in a pot limit cash game. A limp for second or third positions followed by five or so limpers and me raising the pot in a blind. First limper called and the rest folded. Flop – 2,3,5 different suits. I checked, he bet half the pot and I re-raised all in (deliberate check-raise). He called instantly to show me AA they held up. There is no way in a million years I would have put him on that. If I'd have checked in the BB he'd have had AA up against seven players which would have been a not nice situation (AA being so much lamer against so many players). Shows the value in mixing it up I suppose. And pot limit's a different animal I suppose. Why should he give info for a mere 5 unit raise – hang on. I’ve just answered my own question haven't I? That's what playing too much NL does to you.
Did you call that Grub cunt a teenybopper?
That usually works for you.
