I've been watching VH2. I must be getting old as it's the Sky equivalent of Radio 2. Anyway, they've been doing something called the Indie 500 where they countdown a shite load of tracks down to their top ones, though some are more down my driveway (alternative rock) rather than indie (that I will forever associate with the Levellers and Sultans of Ping FC). Top 20 in reverse order was below (obviously stolen from a Google search). Lunt ratings are included for information. Some unbelievably ace tunes.

1. Who the hell are Depose Mode? You obviously know as you gave them a 3-star rating...

Surprisingly I agree with most of your ratings, Lunt. Particularly #12 - talk about one-hit wonders, a crap one at that. I would swap your ratings on 6 & 7. Also, I've gone off the Stone Roses through sheer boredom. There are lots of scandalous omissions, of course - what was their selection criteria?
Time you stopped living in the past & got into some current music - turn to MTV2!
I think There She Goes by The La's is one of the worst ever ever ever songs ever. It sucks, it's not good at all, its incredibly overrated and overplayed
Another song in that category is Sit Down by James.

Goodness gracious, there's some poor choices in this list. Notable exceptions include There's A Light and The Only One I Know, but otherwise as Mike says, there's vast swathes of greatness out there that should be getting more credit than this lot. Enjoy The Silence? The irony.
